OperadiO.com is based in England. We have two locations, in London and in York. There are four founders, led by David Craig, who started the project together some months back, and now there are teams working on music, technology, internet development, the web site and all the other matters that make the station work.

Some original thinking is always a good thing when starting a new entertainment business and so we decided not only to focus on classical music, and particularly Opera, which is not well represented on the Web, but we also decided to prepare the way forward for video as well. Opera is not just lovely singing, it is a whole theatre performance and we will try as we go along to bring more images of Opera being staged to your OperadiO screen.

Singing is the loveliest and certainly the most entertaining of music forms, and Opera is at the pinnacle of sung music. Opera is often thought of as high brow. Until recently it was a music form that has been heard within the confines of the great opera houses of the world, which are inaccessible to most, because they are few and small, and can be very expensive indeed. That does not mean that Opera is the music of the elite. It is loved by all provided there is access to this genre.

Whoever thought of bringing "The Three Tenors" to the TV screen (Mehta?) opened Opera up to the World. We hope that OperadiO can take the popularisation and availability of Opera a great step further forward. That is our mission and our dream.

The Internet makes this eminently possible. Wherever there is a phone line, a computer and a modem there is access to OperadiO. Although we send our music into the Net from Dallas, Texas, we can be heard in any corner of the world, albeit with varying degrees of quality. Mark Cuban, the founder of www.Broadcast.com said some years back of webcasting "It can only get better", and it is getting better. If your signal does not sound good today, it is a whole lot better today than it was a year ago, and it will be much better next year. In three years time, as broad bandwidth comes into your home and office, reception will be so good and so cheap, that it will take over from your traditional entertainment delivery mechanisms.

OperadiO will be with you throughout, bringing you great programming.

If you like what you hear, and what you see, then tell others about us. We can only afford limited resources to publicist and make people aware of this Websterian. So please send our cartoon e-mail message telling others about OperadiO.

And please think about supporting live classical and opera music. Almost no live performance of orchestral and sung classical music can begin to pay for itself. Sponsorship and subsidy are absolutely essential to make performances happen. By giving to to the OperadiO Live Music Trust we will ensure that there is more money available to bring new performances to the concert hall and opera house wherever the Trusts resources can make the difference.
